Partial Differential Equations

This is an undergraduate course intended for students in Mathematics (and other physical sciences). We will be working through standard materials including: theory of first order pdes (including weak solutions and shockwaves), classification of second order pdes, detailed discussion of wave equation, heat equation and Laplace's equation. We will be talking about the Fourier analysis method of solving such pdes; we will also discuss the qualitative behaviour of these pdes using energy methods and maximum principles, etc. The texts we use are the Strauus's book along with Pinchover-Rubinstein's and Olver's.
